*yawn* another bank holiday Monday over – how come I am always more alert and ready to get out of bed on the weekend than I am on a work day *huge massive yawn* – it’s after 10am and I’m still blinking and trying to stay awake at work!
We had a nice bank holiday long weekend – Sarah and Daryn came down from Nottingham on Saturday and I cooked a really nice dinner (tandoori chicken with garlic spinach and onions and coriander) which went down really well – though I think I put too much tandoori in as the chicken pieces were totally covered in sauce and a dark pink colour!
after food and a movie we ended up playing Atmosphere until about 2am and then to bed!
We basically all slacked around on Sunday morning – I tried to make pancakes with caramelised bananas – but I burnt the sugar so the caramel tasted a bit wrong – the pancakes were pretty good though – going to have to use that recipe again! We also played some star wars lego 2 until about 4pm and Daryn and Sarah headed home.
Jayson and I basically did nothing all evening – chatted to the folks and I played xbox while Jayson obsessively tidied up our music collection. I went to bed around 2 again and left Jayson to it – only to be woken up about an hour later with the declaration that the pc had rebooted and unpartitioned the drive – and hence we had lost all our music again – I was so impressed I rolled over and went back to sleep – poor honey!
Monday morning and another lovely wake-up call from my mum (she also called sunday morning and got us up) – alot cheaper than buying an alarm clock! hehe! But it was with good news – their house in Burum town had just got an offer that they had accepted which is really good news – give them some money and bring the mortgage repayments on their current house down – so they were rather excited and so they should be!
I did some google research and found the solution to the unpartitioned drive which was a relief – we already lost over half our music a few weeks ago – didn’t want to loose it all! We left the house around 12 to head over to Grant and Sarah’s to feed the animals again (I though they were home Monday evening) but ended up waking them both up as they had arrived home early morning (oops) but they were fine and so we headed to Greenwich to meet Denis and Sami for lunch!
They took us to this really nice gourmet burger place in Greenwich and i had the biggest burger ever and it was insanely tasty – after that we walked around the markets a bit – but it was really cold and rainy so we decided to call it a day and all head home. I got home and my belly was so so full and I totally reeked of garlic (I had a garlic-mayo burger) and I was freezing so I had a shower and got out and dropped off to sleep on the couch (which accounts for my hideous hair style today as I fell asleep with my head wrapped in a towel) and I still smell of garlic! We spend the evening watching a few movies and then it was sleep time and now work time!

I got a new Phone!!! Wooo Hoo – it’s really nice! My number is currently getting transferred so I can keep it – but this is the first new phone I’ve had for over 4 years! *yay*
Announcement 2
So following on from Tuesday’s announcement – felt rather weird going to work on Wednesday – no-one else in the office knew about what was happening and I was still reeling from the thought of having to go and find a new job and not be able to ride to/from and all the nice things I have been enjoying about working and living in this part of london!
Paul requested a meeting with me in the afternoon to discuss the situation and shocked me again by offering me a junior developer position with RNM. This completly took me by surprise, I had thought originally that they might keep Denis on or offer him a job to take over from where Peter left off (he was the other designer) and now since RNM don’t have a designer at all – I thought that it would fit perfectly.
But no – he said that both Dan and Zeid had been impressed over the last few months about how quickly I had picked up the asp.Net and c# work and how well the project for UKGNL is going and that they would like to offer me the position and see how it goes (subject to the normal 3 month probation period).
So went home on Wednesday night and had a think about it and then came in on Thursday and accepted the position. So my position with FX Player finishes and I start July as a employee of RNM Systems!
Announcement 1
Right so it’s been awhile since I wrote – and that has mainly been because of what’s been happening at work and in life over the last two weeks.
Last Tuesday (after the long weekend) we got taken into a meeting (Denis and I with Dan and Paul) and told that after a long battle that FX Player is shutting down at the end of June (ie. we are all being made redundant).
As you can imagine that came as quite a shock – not hugley surprising considering we wern’t making any money – but still a shock.
Paul said that he would keep us on and working as long as he could – that we could have time off to look for new jobs and would provide us with great refrences and all the support he could give which I thought was very cool of him.
Broke the news the Jayson that evening when he got home and started to think about what the hell I was going to do!
