List for Glastonbury!

Posted on Sunday, June 7, 2009 in Amberlance-to-Campervan, Glastonbury

Glastonbury is approaching really quickly and so I’m putting together a list of all the things that I will need to take!   A new guy started at work this week called Dave and he has been going for at least 10 years and has given me some suggestions to add to my list – him and his lady Bec are going again this year so least I know 1 person! lol

I’ve also been working really hard on getting the ambulance ready to go – it’s been parked down at the mechanics (www.4baysgarage.com) for the last few months and going down and working on it every saturday Derrick and Ajay have been so awsome in letting me potter around down there and spending their time working on it!

So here is the start of a list (will add to it as I go)

  • Double the amount of socks I think I should take
  • Waterproof trousers/clothes
  • Awning (to put up at the back of the camper incase of rain or heaps of sun!
  • Solar shower bag x 2
  • Folding chairs /stools
  • Lanterns
  • Walkie-talkies/radios/charger
  • Lg Gas bottle
  • Extra batteries AA + AAA + car battery charger
  • Telescope!
  • Flag & pole to hang above the camper so we can find it!
  • Fire heater – Mr Pig – (photo to come) – ;)

To kit out the inside of the camper:

  • Fairy Lights + batteries (already have)
  • Foam mat (floor of camper under rugs)
  • Rugs/blankets to go on floor
  • Things to sit on! (foot stools/beanbags?)

General Stuff to take/buy

  • lots of BBQ coal/firelighters
  • plastic kitchen stuff (plates/cups/cutlery)
  • loo paper!
  • kitchen paper
  • garbage bags
  • Kettle
  • Long lighter (for the oven)

Food things:

  • Potatoes to bake
  • Bread
  • Bottles of water (10L ones)
  • Alcohol – but in plastic containers – no glass allowed onsite
  • Mixers
  • Tin soups….or something
  • Porrige/breakky stuff

So it was all very exciting – drove down to Kent on Tuesday night, jumped in the ambulance and proceeded to freak myself out by how huge it was and how I totally cannot see anything behind me – no rear-view mirror on that baby!!

Then the blinkers decided to be slightly tempramental, I got bitten on the back of my neck by a spider – and could not believe that I had brought an ambulance for £255 pounds!!

So we stopped for some fuel at the begining of the journey and I fiddled with the blinker cabling and managed to convince it that really, it is a good idea to work, and blinking really was it’s job!

The ambi had started first time, lights worked and I even had high beams! We tootled down the motorway and while I was a big hesitant, she got up to a nice cruising speed of 65 miles/hour – totally motoring along!!

So got her home (around 10.30pm) and was exhuasted from all the excitment (and the spider bite too I think), parked her out the front and felt very proud!

Got up early Wednesday morning, leaving sleepy head in bed, took down a bottle of water, some cleaning things and my MOT checklist and proceeded to go down and explore my ambulance!
